Highly anticipated projects that are finally coming to life!

After a long period of time, 10 major projects have been signed so far, aimed at facilitating many regions across various parts of Greece.

Mainly concerning roadworks taking place in areas of Crete, Central Greece, and the Peloponnese. Additionally, we observe projects related to airports, energy infrastructures, the Metro, as well as building construction.

Number 10

Lamia-Itea-Antirrio Axis – Gravia Section – Bauxite Mines

This is a project worth 13.5 million euros (including VAT), signed on March 22, 2023. The project is being carried out by INTERKAT. It will be implemented in the Fokida Regional Unit of the Central Greece Region and involves the upgrade of the section from the end of the Gravia Bypass to the at-grade junction of the Bauxite Mines, from chainage 9+300 to chainage 13+600 of the approved relevant study. This is part of the road axis Lamia – Itea – Antirrio.

Number 9

Ionian Center

This is a project worth 39.5 million euros (including VAT) that was signed on January 11, 2023. The project is being carried out by TERNA. It has a completion period of 35 months and is scheduled for delivery in December 2025. The project involves the design and construction of a new Cultural Center, which will function as a Conference and Cultural Center for Youth. The Conference and Cultural Center is being developed in both underground and above-ground spaces, with a total area of approximately 3,300 square meters.

Number 8

Paros Airport Upgrade

This is a project worth 46 million euros (including VAT), which was signed on January 11, 2023. The project is being executed by INTRAKAT with a discount rate of 10.54%. It has a completion period of 30 months and is scheduled for delivery in July 2025. The scope of the project includes the construction of a new terminal, expansion of the parking apron, and a new control tower.

Number 7

Nemea-Mycenae Highway

This is a project worth 47.1 million euros (including VAT), which was signed on April 21, 2023. The project is being executed by HELLENIC HYDROCONSTRUCTION with a discount rate of 21%. The completion period is 24 months, with the scheduled delivery set for April 2025. The project involves the construction and improvement of the final connecting section, 7.015 km long, of the new Provincial Road No. 19a, ‘Tiryntha (from the National Road of Nafplio) – Heraion Antiquities – New Heraion – Monastiraki – Mycenae,’ linking to the ‘Corinth – Tripoli’ highway at the Ancient Nemea interchange.

Number 6

Supply of 15 railways for the Thessaloniki Subway.

This is a project worth €176 million (including VAT), which was signed on February 28, 2023. The contracting authority is Attiko Metro. The project is being executed by the AKTOR-HITACHI consortium. The completion period is 30 months, with scheduled delivery in August 2025.

Number 5

Halkida-Psachna Bypass Road

This is a project worth 210 million euros (including VAT), signed in March 2023. It is the largest infrastructure project in the last few decades for Evia. The project is being executed by MYTILINEOS. It has a completion period of 48 months, with scheduled delivery in March 2027.

Number 4

Lamia-Itea-Antirrio Route – Bralos-Amfissa Section

This is a project worth 285 million euros (including VAT) which was signed on February 16, 2023. The project is being carried out by AVAX. It has a completion period of 54 months and is scheduled for delivery in August 2027.

Number 3

Kalamata-Pylos-Methoni Highway

This is the third largest project in terms of budget signed to date for 2023, amounting to €312 million (including VAT), which was signed on April 21, 2023. The project is being carried out by the AKTOR PAROXORISEIS-INTRAKAT consortium. It is implemented using the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) method and has a completion period of 30 years, with the first 4 years being dedicated to the construction phase.

Number 2

Electric Interconnection of Serifos-Milos-Santorini-Folegandros

This is the second largest project in terms of budget signed so far for 2023, amounting to 328 million euros (including VAT), signed on February 16, 2023. The contracting authority is ADMIE. The project is being executed by the contractors Hellenic Cables and Prysmian. The completion period is 20 months, with completion expected in October 2024.

Number 1

BOAK – Peninsula-Neapolis section

This is the largest-budget project signed to date for 2023, amounting to 359 million euros (including VAT), which was signed on April 23, 2023. The contracting authority is the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport. The project is being executed by the consortium GEK TERNA-AKTOR PARAXORISEIS-INTRAKAT. It is being implemented using the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) method, with a completion period of 30 years, of which the first 4 years are dedicated to the construction phase.

The subject of the partnership agreement is the execution of the project “Northern Road Axis of Crete – Design, construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of the section ‘Hersonissos – Neapolis’, through a PPP.” The final payment will be made with fixed availability payments from the Greek State.
